Yesterday, I heard some devastating news that a friend of mine that I was supposed to meet up for lunch this week passed away in hospital. I had just spoken to her last week and she was so excited to hear from me because I was in the midst of moving out of my apartment and into my house that I had bought with my twin sister that I couldn’t meet up with her last week and so we had planned to see each other this week.
Last Friday, we talked for more than an hour on the phone because we just had so much to say and I knew that she was battling cancer in hospital and wanted to meet up with her since she had just finished going through rounds of chemotherapy treatments. I remember her being excited to think that I’d visit her and I understood that she was feeling weak so I had wanted to visit her at her place but found out early yesterday from an unknown caller calling my cell number who ended up being her brother calling me to inform me that she had passed away this past Sunday and was calling numbers from her cell phone of all the people she last spoken to in order to inform them of the unprecedented news. As you can imagine, I was devastated and shocked because I was just laughing with her the day before that I couldn’t believe that that was my last conversation with her.
I remember praying with her when she was on the phone and telling her that I was praying for her recovery to which she was happy to receive; however, the Lord took her home. She had been battling cancer for quite a long time and I knew that she was tired of fighting it but I am thankful that she had the strength to talk to me for more than an hour on the phone before the Lord took her home. As much as the news has saddened me, I believe that she’s in a better place and that’s why I’m posting this song by Tedashii feat. Crowder called Home that I dedicate to my friend who passed away.
I feel, that no matter what it is that you are going through in life, put your life in God’s hands. My friend was aware of how I myself had battled a sickness that I had to recover from for over two years of fighting for recovery and always encouraged me and made me believe that I’d get better to which I too would encourage her since it seems we were both battling health issues. When one is down, the other is there to pick them up. We are there to lift others up when they are down and that is what she was like to me.
God wants us to remember that in life, He plants people in your life that will be there for you in the good and bad times and that such people are hard to find nowadays. When you have people like that in your life, cherish them, love them and don’t take their presence in your life for granted because you never know when God will take them Home to go to Heaven. This also applies to your family members as well. Cherish them and remember that tomorrow’s not promised and that today is a gift so make the most of your todays as much as possible and thank God for tomorrow. I pray that this song ministers to anyone reading this post today. God Bless You!
