The Light of God’s Word

Hi Peeps!

Today, I wanted to study my Bible and went to Biblegateway.com and saw that this was the Scripture of the day:

Psalm 119:130 NKJV The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

Isn’t it amazing that the Word of God, gives us light which is often referred to or symbolic of “revelation” because if you can imagine yourself walking in the dark without a flash light, what ends up happening is that you will most likely bump into things and potentially trip over somethings simply because you can’t see. Darkness in this situation is symbolic of “ignorance”, or lack of “illumination” and is also a lack of “revelation” because light always dispels darkness and it also reveals that which remained hidden from your vision. Ask yourself, in terms of having a vision for your life, how much have you spent walking around in ignorance (lack of revelation) simply because you didn’t have all the information (revelation) you needed in order to move forward?

When God reveals the plans that He has for you, He will always do it in such a way that He will always shed light to a situation that remained hidden from you in order to:

  1. Address issues that you may have ignored (whether they are personal issues, or relational issues you have with other people);
  2. To sharpen your discernment so that you can operate with wisdom;
  3. To help you to build and move by faith in any situation even when the instructions He gives you, don’t make any sense;
  4. To help you increase your spiritual giftings to operate at a level that I would classify as above average (if you seek to grow in this area of your life, that is…) as you build a level of intimacy with God that causes you to operate in the realm of the supernatural

I believe that as Christians, we shouldn’t settle for the basic level of Christianity that simply knows how to go to church, get your Word fix, go home and still live a life that is unchanged. The Word of God (The BIBLE), is and will always be Transformational and filled Revelation that it’s not enough to read it without pursuing to receive a revelation through the scriptures that we read that causes us to experience an inner and personal change in our lives and in our character. Many of us know how to quote Scriptures, but do we take a second to actually meditate on what it says so that it sparks in us the need to renew our thinking and change our behaviour so that we can become more like Christ? Are we loving enough, are we compassionate enough, are we humble enough, are we merciful enough….? etc etc….

These are the types of questions that run through my mind on a daily basis when I think about how much I want to function and be more Christ-like in my attitude and in my Character. I want to be so Christ-like in all that I do that a person who doesn’t believe in God will want to know about Him simply because they experienced the love of Christ through my actions.

As Christians, I’ve been wondering how potent is our Faith in God that it brings about transformation to those that don’t know God? How deep is our faith, that our Character speaks for itself, and it’s not something people have to dig through in order to figure out where you stand…? It has to be crystal clear where you stand, so that people know that you aren’t operating in such a way that you’re undercover and in the “closet” about your Christianity because you recognize that we can all still live in this World with other people but not act like we’re of it? DO NOT aim to be hypocritical as a way of life. We have to be so distinct and make a distinction as to where we stand in all that we do even when faced with the threat of being ridiculed by those that may call you a “goodie-two shoes” etc etc. Being a Christian is not easy…so whoever tells you that it’s an easy road, hasn’t really lived the lifestyle for real. Temptations exist around us to thwart us off the road of living a life in right-standing with God. Yes, you may fall sometimes, but confess quickly and strive to get back up again from whence you fell. God will always gladly pick you up from where you fell if you purpose in your heart to continue to follow Him.

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 12:46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.

John 15:19
If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.

Lately, have found myself in situations where I had to distinctly tell people where I stood clearly even if it meant that it would offend someone. Simply declaring “I’m a Christian” shouldn’t be a cause to offend someone, but it does offend when it causes one to feel convicted by where you stand. As the Bible states: The Light shines in the Darkness, but the darkness did not comprehend it (John 1:5 ). We cannot downplay the pressure to compromise your belief system in order to “fit-in” the “World system” is real my friends. I think that as you continue your personal walk with God, you will find yourself tested in this area and this will show you where the level of your Spiritual Maturity is at. If you find yourself compromising just to appear agreeable to the masses, you will have to question how strong are your convictions? Hopefully, they’re strong enough that you aren’t fazed by those that don’t agree with you. Continue to remain as Salt to the Earth and not let anyone water you down so that you can simply blend in with the “Crowd”. Choose to Remain SET APART no matter what, is my message, Amen!

I have this song by Andy Mineo called You Can’t Stop Me! I love how he didn’t let the pigment of his skin stop him form rapping and making music that Glorfies God. Dare to be You in Christ Jesus! I pray that this song blesses you today. God Bless You Everybody! 🙂
