I Can Do This!

Hey Everyone!

ok ok I didn’t think I’d do this again but this video first of all has a catchy beat that is familiar but the message is so awesome that I couldn’t keep this to myself! You know when  you really put you mind to it, it’s amazing what we (as humans) can do. We just have to stretch out the possibilities in our minds and leave our beliefs in the “LIMTLESS” Zone. I want to go out there and say “I CAN DO THIS!!!!” and believe it too…

Say it to yourself and what you think in your heart, you will be (Proverbs 23:7)!

Happy Sunday Everyone and enjoy this inspirational Vid!

Pouring out a Bag of Positivity – My Present to You

Todays thought comes from me thinking about what I have seen change in my life for the past year. I must say 2011 has been an amazing year for me. Last year didn’t have so much spark as this year has been and I just Thank GOD for all that He has done to change my perspective about all the negative things that have happened in my life that has increased a genuine appreciation for the things that I do have now. It’s one thing to Accept Jesus as Lord, but it is quite another to keep your hand in His during your walk. Today I just want to pour out a bag of positivity for those that are still going through the storms even in this Season as we celebrate the King of Kings and look forward to the New Year of 2012.  Be Encouraged and Know that you are NOT alone. God cares for you no matter what it is that you are going through. He is with you every step of the way (Hebrews 13:5). I will throw out bags of proverbs and quotes that will be my present to you this Season. Stay blessed and highly favored of the LORD.

Think on things that motivate, stimulate creativity, encourage hope and increase faith that moves you to shower people with LOVE.

Note to Self : Joy is my Portion!!!

So today, as we’re heading into the last days of this year (2011), I figured that we all need to understand that we ALL deserve to be happy. DIVINE JOY is your PORTION in this life! You’ve got to look at what you’ve got right now and live in appreciation that you can live another day with the full knowledge that you have the ability to change your circumstances by doing one simple thing that needs to change. It starts with the letter “M”.

Yes, you guessed it! YOU have to Change your MIND.

A small exercise: I want you to write a letter to yourself and write 20 POSITIVE things about yourself.

When you’ve done that, read it to yourself everyday until YOU BELIEVE EVERY WORD of it. Post it up on your bathroom wall/mirror, or some place where you’ll see it everyday and read that list everyday for 21 days.

Why 21 days?

It takes 21 days to form a habit as it also takes 21 days to break a habit. Permit this change in your life by forming a habit of POSITIVITY.

YOU can break the HABIT of NEGATIVITY with this short 21 day habit of POSITIVE thinking. Purpose to speak the OPPOSITE of  the Negative to renew your mindset to think Positive.

i.e. When someone says “You can’t because” reverse this thought with “I CAN”.

Now, I know that this seems to be me giving you a lecture but I’m gonna try this thing too. It wouldn’t be fair to you if I don’t put it into practice myself. I’ve done it before with just 10 things, so I’m gonna write my list here and put down 20 Positive things about myself. I chose the number 20 because I don’t want us to make this exercise easy by writing down 5 things which is a short list…

You will find that those with negative mentalities find it difficult to write even 10 things down so I’m making it a challenge to do double that. Let’s up this ante.

So when you start this exercise you will notice that you will become stronger as you purpose to think GOOD things and work this journey out of the darkness of negativity and into the light of POSITIVITY.

Philippians 4:8-9 (NKJV)

Meditate on These Things

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. [Emphasis Added]

Sherline’s  List of 20 Positive things about herself – here goes:

1. I am a smiley person.

2. I have a beautiful spirit.

3. I am a positive influence.

4. I make people laugh which makes me happy.

5. I am a creative writer that lives to inspire.

6. I have a go-getter attitude.

7. My strength is in speech.

8. I have pretty eyes.

9. I enjoy positive thinking.

10. I am surrounded by wonderful people.

11. I am loved.

12. I am a free spirit that is blessed to be a        blessing.

13. I love to sing and dance.

14. I care for people, young and old.

15. I love to volunteer.

16. I am born to lead, to serve, and to Praise my GOD.

17. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

18. I am made in God’s image.

19. I am a respected lady.

20. I am a strong woman striving to be a PROVERBS 31 woman.

You don’t have to limit your list to just 20, but 20 is the start. Keep adding to it when you have more positive things to say. POSITIVITY is contagious.  I have given you the SWAT for Negativity. POSITIVITY should reign in your heart. Be Blessed to be a BLESSING.

I’m going to put a song that has been boosting me up each day this week and it’s really a praise song that has been in my heart at the moment that I listen to each morning from yet again OUT OF EDEN.

It’s called “Now I Sing” – Out of Eden.

May it minister to you today and stay blessed and POSITIVE everyone.

12 Things to Remember

Another beautiful Sunday that the Lord has made! I came across another awesome video to warm you up into another dose of Positive thinking. Inspiration breeds change of mindset, transformation and renewal from all the negative energy and thought patterns that keep you from focusing on that God has blessed you with. Think of things that draw you closer to inner joy and fulfillment. God is Your Strength Today because He is the one who provides your JOY. Stay blessed everyone!

Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” [Emphasis added]

Eliminate Self-Condemnation – End the Cycle

We all know that we all make mistakes but we have a bad habit of beating ourselves up over it. This is what we call self-condemnation.

Self-condemnation – an admission that you have failed to do or be something you know you should do or be.

It’s one thing to learn to forgive others but you will find that some people have an even more difficult time at learning to forgive themselves for their past mistakes and failures. Sometimes people land in this negative mindset not because of things that they have done but because of the negative feedback they recieve from others which reinforces this state of self-condemnation. If you are told often enough that “you’re not good enough” or are in a verbally or physically abusive relationship, you can start to believe that you deserve the ill-treatment that you receive from others and end up allowing yourself to start to practice self-abuse because of self-condemnation.

Let me tell you right now that self-condemnation is NOT your PORTION in life. You have the ability to free yourself from this self-destructive way of thinking. Some people may find that if they are trapped in an abusive situation from their peers or loved ones, they face larger obstacles from freeing their mind from self-condemnation. I find that it’s one thing to teach on the value of forgiveness but it’s harder to put it into practice when the times call for it in these types of situations. This is not to say that there is no freedom from this vicious cycle, but there are obvious factors that are present in these circumstances that become obstacles from releasing ones mind from this type of negative mentality.

Self-condemnation is a type of noose that is tied around a persons mind. There are steps one can take to avoid getting trapped into a cycle of self-condemnation. Normally, when you know you’ve made a mistake, you should allow yourself to:

1) RECOGNIZE your mistake(s);

2) REFLECT on what you could have done differently;

3) ACCEPT your current circumstances;

4) MOVE ON after learning what to do differently for the next time you encounter the same or similar situation.

Those that practice self-condemnation never seem to get past stage 1. It’s not enough to recognize your mistakes if you aren’t planning on reflecting on how to move on beyond it. This is how people get into emotional bondages that cause them to be unable to progress in life because they haven’t learned to forgive and let go of past mistakes. I remember a time when I made some crazy mistakes and beat myself out of it that I landed into a state of DEPRESSION. If you have read my earlier post on Comfort zones, this state of behavior is closely tied to that topic as well. When you get depressed you start to feel hopeless and you digress into negative thought patterns that entertain thoughts of suicide and eventually death if you leave yourself unchecked. You will feel vulnerable and this is why it is important to have accountability partners in your life. They snap you out of this crazy state of mind. At the time I didn’t have friends that could do this for  me and I had to learn how to fight this way of thinking on my own.

Even if you are alone, you can battle it out and get out of that cycle. However, I didn’t do this by my personal might nor by power because I knew if I did, it would be a losing battle. I relied on praying to God to get my mind back on track  and meditating on His Word (Zechariah 4:6). Believe me when I say that prayer really works and meditating on what the Word of God says helps you understand that you aren’t the first person to feel this way.Remember you can do all things through Christ you strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

Break the cycle of self-abusive behaviours that trap you into that emotional roller-coaster of self-condemnation.

Self-condemnation prevents you from reaching out for help when you need it the most.

You don’t deserve to live in regret. Everyone has regrets, but you have to get past the regret and move forward to continue pressing on towards the goal (Philippians 3:13-15). You can’t change the past so look at your present circumstances and see the things that you need to change in order to do those things and have something too look forward to in your future. Learn to have a Positive mind by confessing positive  things to yourself. Do this everyday until you break your negative thought patterns. It can be as simple as writing 3 good things about yourself each day and believing in it. Notice the operative word here is BELIEVING. If you don’t believe in the positive things you hear about yourself then you will set yourself up to remain in that emotional bondage. Break yourself out of this mental entrapment. Do this and you will overcome and break the cycle.

Self-Condemners have a defeatist mentality. They already believe that there is no way they can change. That is lie that you should stop believing RIGHT NOW! You can overcome feeling defeated by changing how you see your failure.

Allow yourself to be free from self-condemnation. You have to surround yourself with positive-minded people. Meditate on things that give you that strength to look beyond your mistakes and failures. I keep repeating this in a lot of my posts but seriously “you become what you think” (Proverbs 23:7).

Exercise your FREEDOM! You don’t have to condemn yourself anymore. You can learn from your mistakes and free yourself from self-abusive meditation. Regrets shouldn’t shackle you down from pursuing your dreams and meaningful relationships. Understand that only you can change the way you think at the end of the day. People may be there in your life to guide you out of that negative pattern but essentially, it all boils down to you deciding to change your thought patterns. You can do this, it is achievable, it is possible, and is in your hands to break the shackles of your mind from believing that there is no way out. Change your belief patterns and think of positive things that will boost your self-esteem. You can change the way you think and start renewing your mind to think of things that edify your image as a person (Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:23). Reject negative reports of others and don’t allow others to keep you feeling condemned for your actions forever.

Recognize your failures and decide to be free from this negative cycle and learn to FORGIVE YOURSELF.
