Heaven’s Anthem

Hi Everybody!

I apologize for not having posted anything for a while. I’ve been quite busy with so many things going on. Can you believe it’s almost the end of 2014???? I mean we are in the 11th month and so much has happened. I’m planning to leave the country for a lengthy trip soon and I anticipate that so much will transpire on my trip. I’ve been on preparation mode for it and at the same time I just wanted to drop a line and say a few words of encouragement and prophesy to y’all today.

The next four months including the month of November will be a transitional season for many of you. Where you are right now has been the preparation stage for unlocking the door of your “calling” in your life. It may appear to you that not much seems to be happening, but do not be deceived by your natural eyes. God has watched you tilling the ground and has watched you work the fields to cultivate your giftings that will launch you into the next level of your life. You must remember that operating in your calling demands that you walk a supernatural path (a path less traveled). This Supernatural path requires you to pray different, dream different, act different, fast, speak and move differently from the average Christian. Prepare your mind to receive new associations, networks and mentors that will groom you into new areas of leadership and stewardship as you tap into your calling. The emphasis I have been prodded by God about for the past few months is His concern for the people of God has been about “Activation of Calling”.

What must you do now? Pray and concern yourself with God’s agenda in this season. Every breakthrough you receive or should I say want to receive will only be given to you and I do mean ONLY be given to you while you are about Your Father’s Business. Focus on growth and analyze your weaknesses so that you can turn those weaknesses into strengths. Going to church doesn’t mean you are being activated into your calling. Mere attendance is not enough, you have to go out and do something with respect to advancing God’s agenda on the earth in your life. Your weaknesses do not determine nor limit you from God’s prescribed outcome for your life which is to prosper you and be in good health as your soul prospers (Jeremiah 29:11). Your Faith in action is what will determine your outcome.

Learn from the Past, Respect your Present, and Appreciate and Look forward to your Future. You serve a God that knows your past, present and future so understand that all of these timelines are important for you to note so that you will know what to do in the days yet to come.  If you don’t learn from your past, you will make mistakes in your present that can hinder you from God’s prescribed future. Focus on doing things that you haven’t tapped into before in order to move to the next stage. And Yes, that means getting outside of your comfort zone. The consequence of remaining in your comfort zone is Insanity and death. Insanity is doing what you’ve done before and still expecting a different result. God doesn’t work with insane people since death is at the end of that cycle.God only works with those who are up to the challenge of growing from their past mistakes and still having the end goal in mind. God is about life-giving (growth and prosperity) and not about death-sentence making (insanity, conviction). You must do things that attract life-giving growth in your life and choose not to participate in activities with a death-giving purpose to your destiny. Do not be complacent and self-focused, you must be God-centered and purpose-driven focused.

Encouragement: God has given you all the ingredients you need to be successful. The moment you became Born-Again, you achieved your overcomer status. Faith is what causes you to Overcome. Circumstances around you are not powerful enough that you are unable to overcome them. When you Believe and Trust God, Nothing at all in your life will become impossible for you because your mind has been transformed and renewed to be more like Christ. Remember in Whom you have believed.

1 John 5:4 – For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

Mark 9: 23 – Jesus said unto him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.

If you are lost and don’t know how to move into this season, then it means that who you are hanging out with in your current state, is at the same if not lower level than you. You must go out and pursue associations with people better than you if you want to escape your current condition. You must learn to humble yourself before those who have the necessary ideas, tools, and networks that can take you from your current level to the next higher level for your life. Do not despise your mentors, and remember to have an attitude of gratitude in all things that you do. How you treat people right now will determine whether or not you will fast-track into your calling tomorrow. Be mindful of this and seek wisdom above all else.

Knowledge must always be accompanied with wisdom for wisdom is what will preserve your destiny and protect your future. Seek it like Gold and Silver. Remain determined and develop a spirit of tenacity to not back down or give up until you have achieved your desired end result. AMEN 😀

To end this post, I have a video by Dan Stevers called Heaven’s Anthem. May this video bless your spirit today. God Bless You Everybody 🙂

Worship Sunday: Comin’ Out

Hi Everybody!

Happy Sunday!

Well, as you know, I’ve been in worship mode lately. I will eventually come back to blogging on specific topics soon, but right now I just need to keep praising God for now.

This song that I’m posting today is to uplift anybody who is going through a hard time right now. Sometimes you will feel like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place, but make sure that the Rock you are stuck with is Jesus. Give Glory to God in the darkest times in your life because sometimes it is through the darkest moments in life that you will see the light shine brightly showing you the way out of where you are right now. Only God can rescue us through every trial. Trials are never easy, but we all have to go through them in order to become more refined as individuals. I know that for me, smiling through a trial acting like nothing is wrong has been the most intense struggle I’ve ever had to face; however, I know that if I did not hold onto my sanity I would have lost it and probably thrown in the towel into self-pity land in a state of depression. It’s all about building emotional strength and intelligence to handle the trial.

It’s not easy to rejoice in the trial but it is something I learned how to do because I am thankful to God for giving me the grace to see me through each day. My ears have become sharper to hear what He has to say because when you have nothing left, all you have will always be God. What I learned through my unemployment trial was that when you give God everything you have left even if it seems like nothing, He honors your gift with a reward. The truth is, we are more powerful than we could ever imagine. Even if we don’t realize it, we have talents that we can multiply if we put them to use. The thing is, you have to allow God to use you when He wants your full attention. It may seem like whatever He asks of you will not profit you, but God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Seek God in your trial and come as you are to Him. Allow yourself to become undone before Him so that He can re-create you to what you were destined to be, a conqueror, a might woman or man of valor, an overcomer, an over achiever, a king and queen of the most High God in your sphere of influence within your job, school, family or career. Let God use you and then He will create a path that is straight for you. His will is to prosper you…so if you believe in His way of doing things, and follow Him, you will definitely be successful in whatever you do.

Are you ready to do things GOD’s way, even if it doesn’t make sense?

This song is by Jonathan McReynolds called Comin’ Out. May this song minister to your spirit today. God Bless you everybody!

Inspiration Sunday : Don’t forget the TEN C’s!

Happy Sunday Everybody!

Well, let me just first testify that I now have a new job everybody and I thank you, thank you, thank you all for your prayers!!! GOD IS AWESOME!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀

Being jobless two weeks before Easter was pretty rough, but through this time of job searching and solitude, I learned quite a lot about myself. There were days I was battling depression and wondered if God was paying any attention. I went through a series of anger, hurt, sadness and that lasted for about two weeks straight at one point during my job search that went on for about 3 months. I knew that the season was over from my previous job, but I found myself wondering why it was taking so long to get a new job? What I realized is that God was helping me to strengthen my FAITH and my ATTITUDE. I decided to stop moping about and remain productive by working on a fundraising project that I’m doing for my church for an orphanage in South Africa. This project helped me to focus on being positive and active.

When you get depressed, you will feel like sleeping  a lot or engage in activities that help you to stop thinking in order to numb the pain of feeling defeated. Stress blocks an area in the brain that helps you to plan. In knowing that stress does this, I focused my energy on choosing not to feel stressed and to operate by faith. I decided to remain positive and smile even if I didn’t feel like it sometimes because when you smile, endorphins are released that stimulate your brain, especially the planning center of your brain, and if anything, I wanted to have plans being downloaded into my head. There comes a point when smiling starts to become a natural thing and laughing becomes a booster that propels you to think happier thoughts. I found myself “faith-ing”  my way back into  thinking that God is on the Job. I released all the stress and tension I felt with being jobless and started to speak words of faith regarding my circumstances and believed that I would get hired.

I remember going through a series of interviews and there was one job in particular that was so promising that they even offered a second interview that went well that my hopes were so high. When I found out I didn’t get the job I was utterly disappointed, but refused to let my heart be affected to such a point that it would turn into a state of heart break.

I reasoned that the potential employer couldn’t “afford” me so that is the reason why didn’t get the job. It may sound conceited, but I’m speaking out of confidence here because I know who I am in Christ and I know my worth. I have value, and I know that I will add value to any company. If God says “no” to a company, I’m not going to argue with His decision. The very same week I got that rejection from that potential job,  I also got an offer from an agency to start on a temp-to-perm job to which I accepted and have started to work there . So even though one door closed shut in my face, a better one opened up for me. What I’m trying to say here is that we cannot allow rejection to cripple our spirits to a point where we become inactive. We have to accept the circumstances and learn to jump up again and move on. The way I see it, I saw the Holy Spirit moving and shaping my attitude to be adjusted to receive the new job. If I had not learned to change my attitude on time, I would have missed the opportunity had I decided “kay sera sera, whatever will be will be…”.

Depression is an obstacle that we all have to face and will encounter in life. It can be a phase that one passes through in life and overcomes, or it can become a lifestyle if we choose to be subdued by the vices of depression. Keep your faith alive by listening to gospel music, praying, meditating and then remain active by engaging in extra activities. If you end up sleeping, drinking, or smoking (or practice any other addictive behaviour) out of depression, or find yourself trapped in a cycle where all you think are bad thoughts, you have shut the planning center in your brain by surrounding yourself with stress and negativity.

Stress inhibits your ability to plan and think creatively to get out of your depression. You must figure out what triggers your depression and create an atmosphere around you that prevents you from feeling depressed. I know that for me, staying at home alone almost drove me a little crazy, so I would ensure I did something different in my day every single day which includes going out for a walk, or visiting a place or visiting someone.

Isolation is one of the best environments for depression to thrive, so keep yourself occupied and go out often into public places. Distracting yourself from negative thinking should involve you becoming productive in your day. I found that when I walked around, many ideas kept popping in my head to enhance the way I was conducting my job search.

The end result is that God came through for me when He knew I was mentally prepared to go back to work. The way I see it is that I could have gotten a job just like that *with a snap of God’s fingers* because I know God could give me one; however, God wanted to prune some bad behaviours out of me in order to work with a new perspective about dealing with depression. I think that I’ve learned a lot through this period of what seemed like bareness of job opportunities because I remember how I once was suicidal years ago dealing with the pressure of University and work etc, but I know that this time, suicide was not an option. With God on my side, I knew that I would pull out of this and I gave Him thanks and praise everyday in advance (this is key) of receiving the job because I knew He had already prepared the way, I just needed to prepare my spirit to walk with Him when the timing was ready.

So in all of this, I say, don’t lose hope even when the times are rough. You will pull through it if you meditate on God’s Truth that is found in His Word (the Bible). God is a river through your desert situation and He will provide for you if you just believe. God is still in the miracle making business, we just have to tap into that realm to receive our just rewards. He is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him so ask yourself, are you seeking Him today?

Isaiah 43:19-20

Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. The beast of the field will honor Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I give waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen.
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

I have here a video reminding us about the Ten Commandments. These Ten Commandments are what govern whether we are aligned to God’s will for our lives or not. Let us do an inventory of our lives and see if we have these things in order. If we do not, then something is amiss and we need to change our ways in order to walk in God’s divine Favor. May this Video Bless Y’all today!

The Story of a 16-year old Ex- Cutter

Hi Everybody!

Today I would like to address another issue that remains undiscussed or left in hindsight because it isn’t an obvious activity amongst our young generation. We sometimes wonder what causes a child to want to commit suicide or take drugs or drink alcohol, club like no tomorrow, starve themselves and become anorexic or bulimic or practice binge eating etc etc. There are soo many reasons why these things happen but we have to understand it in a biblical point of view here. The generation rising is what the devil is trying to destroy. When Moses – the sent deliverer was born, Satan was after his life and tried to kill a generation of children that were 2 years of age and under using Pharaoh to decree it as law …When Jesus popped into the scene as the Messiah and the one who came to save us, Herod decreed the same law that permitted the killing yet again of young children 2 years of age or younger in pursuit to kill Jesus as a vulnerable baby.

It should be clear to you that Satan is after the young generation rising that could be sent to be the solution to our future and to the world’s existing problems. Why wait until they are full blown adults when the assignment is to destroy them before they realize their full potential. Is it such a mystery as to why abortion is on the rise???? Is it such a mystery that youth are dying everyday to addictions and violence???? Is it such a mystery that pop music, the internet and social media has such a strong influence in youth culture??? Satan will do whatever and use whatever means possible so that he can and infiltrate in whatever way he can to get at the minds of young people and abort their destinies. The stuff some young people are dealing with to this day is stuff you’d be surprised about because some activities never really existed 20 years ago. This saddens me because I see this operating a lot to this day and it rarely gets any recognition or awareness that it deserves because of the simple fact that parents are oblivious and ignorant of the affairs of their children. This just proves how Hosea 4:6 is still in effect in our current generation…but what I want to see is  2 Timothy 3:15-16  & Proverbs 22:6 to be in effect people!

So today I want to give you a short video clip of a young 16-year old girl’s testimony of how she is an Ex-cutter and what she discovered during the healing process to overcame the addiction. Check out her story.

Now, I found it interesting how Ashley said that she “heard a voice that told her to start cutting”. Folks, the practice of cutting isn’t a new thing at all, in fact I was surprised to find it practiced in the Bible. The practice of cutting yourself was practiced by Baal worshipers in the book of 1 Kings 18. When Prophet Elijah challenged the Baal prophets to see which “God” was really the one true God that should be worshiped, he proposed that they both make alters where a bull was to be sacrificed and laid there for the purpose of the “True God” to supernaturally accept the offering by Fire that was not man-made but divine in origin as proof of whose god was really God.  During this process, the Baal Prophets practiced cutting themselves (the flesh) until blood flowed which was a typical custom for their religion in an attempt to get their god Baal to “answer them”. You will find they practiced this nonsense in vain because the God of Elijah, the one true God defeated their so-called gods as God answered to Elijah’s offering with a divine Fire that consumed the entire offering. Let’s read it so you know where I’m coming from if you think I’m making this stuff up.

1 Kings 18: 20- 38

Elijah’s Mount Carmel Victory

20 So Ahab sent for all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together on Mount Carmel.21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word. 22 Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men. 23 Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it.24 Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.”

So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.”

25 Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.

26 So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.

27 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.” 28 So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.

30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down. 31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”[b]32 Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed. 33 And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.” 34 Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. 35 So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.

36 And it came to pass, atthe time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. 37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”

38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”

Why make mention of this Sherline????

I’m telling you that the practice of cutting isn’t a new phenomenon in children today. It was practiced in the days of Elijah by the prophets of Baal (a false god; a demonic entity) and you will find that a lot of the afflictions that run in countries and families to this day can be sourced to ancient practices that are transmitted as curses from one generation to the next. For Ashley, she first heard a “voice” which is obviously demonic in its source when she started to practice cutting. When she engaged in it, she felt ‘relief’ or some sort of ‘high’ after doing it because of the unstable state of her mind at the time. It then ended up being an addictive practice for her to deal with her emotional pain and stress. It became something she unwittingly started to worship and exalt and without realizing that she was now turning the activity into a subtle form of modern-day idol worship. The addiction gave glory to her cutting her flesh until blood flowed which rewarded her addiction with a false sense of temporary “relief” and “security” when what she really needed was some serious help. She never turned to God for help because she was already self-absorbed in it all that she kept it a secret that cutting was the answer to relieve her pain. This is obviously a lie that she now felt convinced was her ‘truth”. Do you see how subtle lies work to train a person into practicing sin by these unhealthy activities?

Cutting is a form of IDOLATRY just as drugs are a form of IDOLATRY and any other addiction for that matter.

You become what you worship.

It makes you wonder doesn’t it… If people aren’t worshiping God then what are people worshiping these days?

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled

In this case…Ashley became a cutter which is something Baal worshipers used to do in the days of Elijah as was their custom. Don’t get me wrong here because I’m NOT implying that Ashley is a Baal worshiper… What I am trying to say is that the origin to this sinful practice of cutting human flesh is demonic in nature and has been passed down from generation to generation as an ongoing generational curse from our fore-fathers, so it isn’t a new phenomenon if you find that people are still engaged in this dangerous activity behind closed doors.

Ecclesiastes 1:9
That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun.

Lamentations 5:7
Our fathers sinned and are no more, and we have borne their iniquities.

If Baal worshipers did it as a customary thing in their worship to a false god then cutters are essentially doing the same thing…they’re worshiping the “relief” that cutting their flesh produces to an extent that over-exalts the knowledge and the truth of God found in Jesus Christ.

John 14:1
[ The Way, the Truth, and the Life ] “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Notice how Ashley didn’t even think to pray to God or even seek help from her family or friends to stop this unhealthy behaviour. She was so self-absorbed in relieving her pain that it didn’t occur to her that she was hurting her family and other people that cared for her. These unhealthy addictions and activities cause people to be blinded to how their behaviors affect other people around them and also they too become blinded to the extent that they cannot see that they also need help. Cutting became such a serious stronghold in Ashley’s mind that it hooked her and silenced her as she remained bound by the oppression of this secretive activity. Notice that her mind was not normal…if such an activity were OK by normal standards…why do it in secret??? These are the types of sins that our young generation are facing to this day that needs to be brought to the fore front and must be confronted with Compassion and Love and Education.

Each time Ashley faced a personal crisis, she turned to cutting rather than calling on God or seek Godly counsel to help her deal with her emotional issues. She had a sister and a mother that were available to listen to her problems, but she didn’t even call on them for help. The practice of cutting is like a drug in that it is a self-absorbed activity that idolizes having “control” and a false sense of “security” with something (an activity) where you have none.

How can one be secure with cutting themselves and yet lack self-control? The act of cutting is in and of itself a blind side contradiction in that it serves no purpose to provide a person “real security”or “self-control” over their emotions. Such self-serving addictions are dangerous in that a person engaged in the activity for a prolonged period of time will essentially become bound by lies that convince them that they do have “self-control”  over their addictions when they don’t, and these lies are the kinds that lead to death. All addictions lead to death. Ashley started to enjoy the feeling of “relief’ that came from cutting that it ended up being an unhealthy obsessive compulsive behaviour that she tried to hide.

If Ashley’s cutting behavior had not been exposed by her sister, I don’t think you’d be reading this post today about this girl’s victory. You’d probably be reading her grave stone epitaph right about now. This is how serious addiction is people, but unfortunately…this isn’t the only type of activity that is being practiced by youth today in secrecy.

These unhealthy activities that children are getting into these days are becoming alarming. I have heard of some crazy new things that are becoming a fad as of late amongst young teens that live in this age of new technology and innovation. If you are a parent then you have to seriously get in-tune with what’s going on and keep up with what is going on because the devil is finding new things to get young people absorbed in different forms of IDOLATRY and other sins. Sin releases curses that affect people generationally and that is how generational curses continue from seed to seed, from child to grand child etc etc.

Deuteronomy 5:9
you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

Numbers 14:18
The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’

Friends, if you are a parent or guardian, I think it’s about time that some of us get serious here and start getting involved with your children’s lives.

Recognize the signs of isolation, recognize when a child is acting withdrawn…seek spiritual discernment (which is gift provided by the Holy Spirit) on these areas so that you can pray effectively for your children. Don’t just stop and pray though…you’ve got to be actively involved with their lives to be an effective intercessor. Intercede for them with prayer and be sure that they are involved in a Bible believing church and that you are also a part of their lives as well. A lot of young people don’t communicate these struggles out of fear, guilt and shame. Parents, if you want to reach out to your kids effectively, respond with love rather than condemnation. Show your children that you care for their well being rather than condemning them for being involved in these unhealthy activities. They will shut down and won’t respond to criticism which again fuels continual secrecy, silence and continual practice in the addiction.  Also understand that the times are changing  and the days are evil. You need to get informed of the new fads that are targeting your children today that are essentially killing a generation.  I’ll give you an example….if you don’t know what a sex bracelet is, or the Choking game” or “Car surfing” is by now….then this is how ignorant and out of touch you are of what is going on in youth culture today.

Ignorance kills destiny, wisdom PRESERVES LIFE.

Proverbs 10:27
The fear of the LORD prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.

Proverbs 14:27
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death.

All I am saying is that it’s one thing to discuss healing and deliverance for an individual… but if you are unaware of what some people are struggling with…how can you know what they need to be healed and be delivered from?????How can you know what to pray for???

Education is key here and research is key. My message is that we need to start getting some knowledge of current day practices if we want to effectively minister to someone that is going through some struggles that are unfamiliar and new territory for us.  We have to fear God enough to purpose to change the current status quo of a dying generation of the world’s solutions. Children are the solutions to our future…but we must step up and protect them with the same zeal as how Moses – the deliverer for the Children of Israel was protected as a baby and how even our Savior Jesus was protected as his life hung in the balance by Herod’s blood lust to abort His destiny at the expense of other children’s lives which was to become the Saviour of the World.

Final Word: Let’s pray and get educated about the new trends that are keeping people bound in silence out of fear, guilt and shame so that we can be effective at interceding for the current generation that needs covering so that they can all rise up to meet their full potential.

 Romans 8:19 (NIV)

19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

Let us not lose the generation rising to ignorance and become well informed and strategic in our spiritual warfare. Show children that God loves them and that HE wants them to be Healed and Delivered and set free from the oppression of addiction and other unhealthy activities by getting involved in their lives and learn to engage them in open discussions that involve some real talk. Dispel the lies that they are being fed out there with the TRUTH as your weapon of Spiritual warfare. Fight for them so that they live because Jesus did that for us so we should do the same.

I have a song today in reflection to this post by  Kierra”Kiki” Sheard called “Let Go”. May it minister to you today. God bless you everybody!

Eliminate Self-Condemnation – End the Cycle

We all know that we all make mistakes but we have a bad habit of beating ourselves up over it. This is what we call self-condemnation.

Self-condemnation – an admission that you have failed to do or be something you know you should do or be.

It’s one thing to learn to forgive others but you will find that some people have an even more difficult time at learning to forgive themselves for their past mistakes and failures. Sometimes people land in this negative mindset not because of things that they have done but because of the negative feedback they recieve from others which reinforces this state of self-condemnation. If you are told often enough that “you’re not good enough” or are in a verbally or physically abusive relationship, you can start to believe that you deserve the ill-treatment that you receive from others and end up allowing yourself to start to practice self-abuse because of self-condemnation.

Let me tell you right now that self-condemnation is NOT your PORTION in life. You have the ability to free yourself from this self-destructive way of thinking. Some people may find that if they are trapped in an abusive situation from their peers or loved ones, they face larger obstacles from freeing their mind from self-condemnation. I find that it’s one thing to teach on the value of forgiveness but it’s harder to put it into practice when the times call for it in these types of situations. This is not to say that there is no freedom from this vicious cycle, but there are obvious factors that are present in these circumstances that become obstacles from releasing ones mind from this type of negative mentality.

Self-condemnation is a type of noose that is tied around a persons mind. There are steps one can take to avoid getting trapped into a cycle of self-condemnation. Normally, when you know you’ve made a mistake, you should allow yourself to:

1) RECOGNIZE your mistake(s);

2) REFLECT on what you could have done differently;

3) ACCEPT your current circumstances;

4) MOVE ON after learning what to do differently for the next time you encounter the same or similar situation.

Those that practice self-condemnation never seem to get past stage 1. It’s not enough to recognize your mistakes if you aren’t planning on reflecting on how to move on beyond it. This is how people get into emotional bondages that cause them to be unable to progress in life because they haven’t learned to forgive and let go of past mistakes. I remember a time when I made some crazy mistakes and beat myself out of it that I landed into a state of DEPRESSION. If you have read my earlier post on Comfort zones, this state of behavior is closely tied to that topic as well. When you get depressed you start to feel hopeless and you digress into negative thought patterns that entertain thoughts of suicide and eventually death if you leave yourself unchecked. You will feel vulnerable and this is why it is important to have accountability partners in your life. They snap you out of this crazy state of mind. At the time I didn’t have friends that could do this for  me and I had to learn how to fight this way of thinking on my own.

Even if you are alone, you can battle it out and get out of that cycle. However, I didn’t do this by my personal might nor by power because I knew if I did, it would be a losing battle. I relied on praying to God to get my mind back on track  and meditating on His Word (Zechariah 4:6). Believe me when I say that prayer really works and meditating on what the Word of God says helps you understand that you aren’t the first person to feel this way.Remember you can do all things through Christ you strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

Break the cycle of self-abusive behaviours that trap you into that emotional roller-coaster of self-condemnation.

Self-condemnation prevents you from reaching out for help when you need it the most.

You don’t deserve to live in regret. Everyone has regrets, but you have to get past the regret and move forward to continue pressing on towards the goal (Philippians 3:13-15). You can’t change the past so look at your present circumstances and see the things that you need to change in order to do those things and have something too look forward to in your future. Learn to have a Positive mind by confessing positive  things to yourself. Do this everyday until you break your negative thought patterns. It can be as simple as writing 3 good things about yourself each day and believing in it. Notice the operative word here is BELIEVING. If you don’t believe in the positive things you hear about yourself then you will set yourself up to remain in that emotional bondage. Break yourself out of this mental entrapment. Do this and you will overcome and break the cycle.

Self-Condemners have a defeatist mentality. They already believe that there is no way they can change. That is lie that you should stop believing RIGHT NOW! You can overcome feeling defeated by changing how you see your failure.

Allow yourself to be free from self-condemnation. You have to surround yourself with positive-minded people. Meditate on things that give you that strength to look beyond your mistakes and failures. I keep repeating this in a lot of my posts but seriously “you become what you think” (Proverbs 23:7).

Exercise your FREEDOM! You don’t have to condemn yourself anymore. You can learn from your mistakes and free yourself from self-abusive meditation. Regrets shouldn’t shackle you down from pursuing your dreams and meaningful relationships. Understand that only you can change the way you think at the end of the day. People may be there in your life to guide you out of that negative pattern but essentially, it all boils down to you deciding to change your thought patterns. You can do this, it is achievable, it is possible, and is in your hands to break the shackles of your mind from believing that there is no way out. Change your belief patterns and think of positive things that will boost your self-esteem. You can change the way you think and start renewing your mind to think of things that edify your image as a person (Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:23). Reject negative reports of others and don’t allow others to keep you feeling condemned for your actions forever.

Recognize your failures and decide to be free from this negative cycle and learn to FORGIVE YOURSELF.

Overcoming Disappointments by Maintaining a Positive Attitude

Image result for positive attitude quotesSo you must be wondering why I am writing about this topic. So much has been happening around me, I don’t have time to put things into detail but I feel like this is a good topic to raise. I have tried to be a consistent blogger but it’s difficult when I find myself really busy with things that I have to do but I just want to let you know (you the reader) that I’m still here.

The reason why I am bringing this up is because it is something that everybody faces at some point in their lives. I have had a few disappointments in terms of the encounters I have had with several individuals that seem to be there for you one moment and totally abandon you the next. Sometimes we are disappointed because of negative outcomes for things we hoped for, or because life seems unfair and nothing good seems to be working in our lives. I am speaking in general terms for the purpose of this topic so that you can understand that disappointments are inevitable occurences. Disappointments are not phenomenons, they are expected at some point in our lives but it’s how we respond to disappointments that counts.

Self-pity is misery that wants company in my books and truly…when I encounter individuals with this state of mind…I always warn them not to RSVP me in their pity-party invites. Why mention self-pity? We can easily fall into traps of thinking negative thoughts that produce a negative personality and an obscure way of looking at things in life that attribute to unhealthy life-style choices. Do not engage in entertaining negative thoughts since they produce negative emotions and characters as a result. The main point is that we must engage in positive thought patterns and make an effort to change how we see a negative outcome or incident. Overcomers typically have positive thought patterns that allow them to lead more successful and productive lives. If you want to have such traits, you must begin by making the effort to choose to think positive.

Positive thinking doesn’t “just happen”, you have to use your will to change the way you think. It is not a simple task and hence you are required to make a conscious effort to change your patterns of thinking.

Do not get me wrong here in that I know that realistically, there are varying degrees of disappointments that a person may encounter at different periods in their life, but each disappointment can be overcomed by how you look at a situation. We tend to lean towards negative thought patterns when things do not go “our way” or when people hurt us in different ways but the only person that can keep you happy is YOU. The only person that can change this outlook is also YOU.

send a positive thought - calmRemaining positive minded is a choice thing and it is also a disciplined practice as well. You choose how to react, you choose how to respond and you choose the actions that you want to take. Notice how everything is all on you to take that step to transform your way of thinking.  Renew your mind and think thoughts that give you pleasant feelings.  Now having said that, I will reiterate that it takes a conscious effort to change your way of thinking. Life has a way of throwing curve-balls at you but it is at these times that you need to keep your wits about you. This isn’t the time for you to break-down, but because of how reality knocks at us, we cannot underestimate the fragility of our minds to break when encountered with disappointments.

Disappointments can accompany many negative emotions such as despair, discouragement, hopelessness, fear, rejection, sadness, confusion, anger, regret etc, but these emotions can last for a short period or a prolonged period based on how we entertain these negative thoughts. It’s easy for people to become easily ensnared by negative thought patterns if they have not practiced positive thinking and positive responses to negative actions. Disappointments also have a way of eating at the very core of our self-esteem and can lead us to have poor self-image problems if we are not careful enough to guard our minds from over-brooding negative situations and experiences in our lives.

Why do I advocate “positive thinking”? I have seen that in my life, I have had various degrees of disappointments that have even led to suicidal thought patterns, so I know that if you over-brood on the negative, you will definitely affect your destiny by gravitating towards poor life choices and negative personalities. In effect, such a poor personality can cause people to be drawn away from you thus resulting in self-isolation and eventually, the path of a negative mindset leads to a treacherous path of uncertainty in your future. In other words, you can easily loose your way and apathy can begin to build up if you don’t curb your way of processing the things you are experiencing. Why would I over dramatize my last comment? Because I speak from experience.

Negative personalities affect others around you believe it or not. You can impact others with the way you respond to things. How you respond to negative experiences will affect how you perceive yourself and how others perceive you. There were times when I thought life was hopeless and meaningless and I left my mind idle to detrimental thought patterns. I thought that there was no light at the end of the tunnel in certain situations where some individuals whom I thought were “friends” did things that utterly disappointed me and left me to think that this is why I loose hope in humanity”. Essentially, it doesn’t matter who wronged me, the point is, is that I had already entertained dark thoughts that were not productive in my walk in life. I had to force myself to think differently. Positive minded people are attractive whereas the opposite is also true…negative people deter people.

To cultivate a positive mind, you can nuture it by surrounding yourself with “like-minded” individuals. This is a tough one since your peers can easily succumb to negative thought processes due to the stresses of life and other things that life has to offer. At the end of the day, it’s up to you to transform your thought life to a positive streamlined way of thinking. You determine your destiny by renewing your mind to think of good things. Meditate on things that are productive. This is not to say that you’ll never feel bad emotions in your life, but what I am saying is that you can overcome these emotions by not entertaining them for long periods of time and learning to overcome them by training your mind to think on the “bright side”. Life is a gift but we can make it a curse if we brood in negativity. In the end, it’s all up to YOU!
