Today is the final day of the 21 day fast that I was participating in with my church. I feel like this fast was quite challenging and yet eye opening for me. Lots of things were revealed to me as I immersed myself in the Word and stayed in that place of worship. I couldn’t afford to be distracted…Sometimes I stay quiet during these times and weird things happen, but at the same time I feel like my senses are sharpening to hear the Holy Spirit clearly that sometimes when I’m at work I would say certain things to some people and they would happen as I had said they would. I give God all the praise because GOD is AWESOME! :)
I have seen visions and have had dreams which show me where I must go and what I must do and certain things that are yet to come. I cannot emphasize that you should not down play the workings of the Holy Spirit functioning in your life. It is at those times that when you feel lost that you need true guidance, a word of encouragement or a spoken word in season that can direct your path. The only thing you have to do is lean on God for understanding, and I mean completely lean on God for understanding. Like I said before, your intellect nor your might and power is sufficient enough to deal with the types of challenges you may face this year. We as people need to become totally dependent on God, especially in a crisis. Will you obey the voice of the Holy Spirit this year?
I know of a few friends of mine are going through a crisis right about now, and the only thing I can say to that is that at the end of the day, you have to exalt God above your circumstances. You must be thinking “Yeah Sherline, easy for you to say, you’re not the one in this mess”. Well, yes I may not be in your mess, but I have my own sets of challenges that I have to face and can tell you based on experience that exalting a problem gets you nowhere.
The more we magnify a problem the more we are blinded and fail to see the One who is the Solution to the Problem.
Our solution is wrapped up in Jesus. We cannot afford to exalt our problems above God. God is the one who is able to see us through the storms of life. When Peter walked on water, he did it by faith by simply Fixing his eyes on Jesus. The moment he shifted his gaze to view the storm he was walking into, he began to sink because His focus broke away from the One that was walking with Him in that storm. His eyes left Jesus to focus on his circumstances and that is where he started sink in the storm. My message to you today is FIX YOUR EYES ON JESUS. He is the Author and Finisher of your faith, so do not magnify your problems above Jesus, otherwise, you’ll start to sink in them just like Peter did when he shifted his focus off of Jesus.
28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,[a] he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
The Holy Spirit can guide you if you allow your ears to incline to his wisdom and understanding.
The Value of Wisdom
2 My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you,
2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
4 If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
In no way am I saying that the fight will be easy with whatever battle that you face, however, you still have to fight. You cannot afford to back-out, back-down or sleep this one through hoping that the trial will simply disappear. You have to learn to face your battles head on and acknowledge that fact that you will tackle with the spirit of fear, depression, oppression, including the spirit of death and that is why you need to strengthen your spirit man for each battle by saturating yourself with the Word of God. WEAR YOUR ARMOUR PEOPLE! (Ephesians 6). Your battle is completely spiritual…never forget that.
I remember the times where I battled suicidal thoughts and at one point almost succeeded taking my own life until my Grandmother stepped in when I went through a lot of spiritual oppression that was too difficult for me to bear. I was sick an tired of battling demonic forces that I couldn’t see in the natural but could see when I had these nightmares. I had severe nightmares when I was a child that would end up being physically tormenting in that I would lose control and my body as it would twist in ways that I had no control over (think exorcist here) until I cried out the name of Jesus would the torment stop for the night. I remember seeing angels beside my bed when I was younger when these things would happen and all they would say to me was “Cry out the name of Our Lord Jesus and He will help you” and I would and the nightly attacks would end. There is something about that Name Jesus, that makes the difference when you are faced with something that is beyond your control or capacity to deal with. So when I say fight…I’m not saying this as some shallow advice with no experience to back it up, I’m speaking from experience. The fact is Christians, you will face trouble in this world, but Jesus told us this one thing… Take heart, for I have overcome the world.
Jesus has already confirmed that we can overcome anything that we face when He is on our side. Jesus will fight with you when you face a crisis, but you must first acknowledge Him in your battle. Many people or should I say, many Christians head into battle without their armor and experience heavy losses in their lives because they simply thought they knew better in terms of how to go into that battle. When you include God in your battle, you have assured victory, but it takes humility to know that you need to set aside your pride and arrogance in order to let God step into your situation and win the war against your soul.
My question to you today is will you allow God in your battle? Food for thought.
I have this song by Martha Munizzi called My God is a Big God with the Reprise. This song will help you magnify God in your life. I pray that it blesses your spirit today. I will soon be traveling so I won’t be able to blog for a while but I just wanted to leave off with this note of encouragement to anyone facing a crisis. God is with you, just believe that and include Him in all your battles this year, Amen! God bless y’all :D
