A Book of Remembrance – Are You in the Pages?

Hi Everybody!

So today’s meditation comes from the book of Malachi 3: 16-18.  I was actually looking for something else to talk about but landed on this page that spoke to me and have decided that today is a good day for this message. It’s a passage that talks about those that FEAR THE LORD will be written in the Lord’s Book of Remembrance.

Let’s read Malachi 3: 16-18.

A Book of Remembrance

16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another,
And the Lord listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who meditate on His name.

17 “They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts,
“On the day that I make them My jewels.[a]
And I will spare them
As a man spares his own son who serves him.”
18 Then you shall again discern
Between the righteous and the wicked,
Between one who serves God
And one who does not serve Him.

Isn’t it interesting? It describes those that categorically Fear the Lord are those who:

1) Meditate on HIS name;

2) Discern between what is Good and evil in v. 18; and also they are able to

3) Discern those who serve God from those that do not.

Those that Fear the Lord are written in the Book of Remembrance and the first question that came to my mind upon reading this is…Am I written in any of those pages? Would you ask yourself that question?

I know that I have come across some people that feel they “have arrived” based on their attitude and yet it still shocks me how they act all self-righteous towards others as if to say they have arrived at a pinnacle where they feel they are more “anointed” and more “holy” than the rest to whom they perceive (in their own eyes)  as lower than the dirt below the ground that should practice kissing their feet to reach their level by their so-called guidance to righteousness. I pray to never to be like that because self-righteousness is Pride and as it is written, God resists the Proud and gives grace to the Humble (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5).

Humility says to prefer others more than yourself and to always operate with a spirit of LOVE (Romans 12:10). I know for sure that if my name is in the Book of Rememberance…I think that in brackets my name would have (“still pending”) at the end of it because I know for sure that I have not arrived and I am still working out my faith with much fear and trembling. My grandpa always warned me not to be proud and to think you’ve arrived when regarding ones humility and even my mom says the same thing to me also, so as the third generation in my family, I’m saying the same thing here as well. Never assume for one moment that “You’ve arrived” in the Lord because you might be surprised by God’s measure regarding your standing in Him.

Some people may not be able to perceive how far their hearts are from Him, even though they think they are honoring God with their lips. It’s not what you say that counts in this life,  it’s what you believe in that does.

Isaiah 29:13
Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,

Yes, it is possible to be all Lip service and NO heart condition to Love the Lord your God. Yes, it’s possible to minister and serve “in Name Only” and not in “Love with Action”. Yes, It is possible to look the part and NOT act the part (hypocrisy). Yes, it is possible to be called a Christian and still be an unbeliever (what do you believe in then? who is your God?). Yes, it is possible for us to know the Word (because even the Devil knows how to read – *surprise surprise*) and NOT live the Word. Yes, it is possible to walk in the flesh and deny the power of the Holy Spirit. <– This is really scary to me.

2 Timothy 3 (NKJV)

Perilous Times and Perilous Men

3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

When I think about such things, it kind of freaks me out to a large extent. Sometimes I say…”wow…Do people Not Fear God?” , when I see some unjust behavior in operation by some people; but even asking that question makes me reflect back on my own walk to question…”Do I Fear the Lord?”. Whenever we question someone else’s speck we must look back at ourselves always to make sure we don’t have a plank in our own eye.

Humility demands for introspection before scrutinizing and discerning others. In the book Sharpening Your Discernment by Roberts Liardon (I still recommend this book by the way 😀 ), he talks about learning to discern yourself first before you discern others. If you don’t know how to discern your own weaknesses and failures (sins), how are you then able to accurately discern the issues of another person sins without operating in a condemning and self-righteous eye? Those that Fear the Lord are able to discern those who do right from wrong with a spirit of love to bring about conviction to change their ways and return back to the heart of the Father rather than in condemnation because they operate in the wisdom of the Lord. This tells us that the Fear of the Lord which is the beginning of all wisdom, is required in all of us in order to minister effectively and discern properly what is right and wrong with an individual so that we know what to pray for in regards to healing and deliverance ministry which also include intercessory prayer (Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 1:7; Proverbs 9:10).

I feel that for me, I keep seeing new faces of the Lord in my daily walk in Him and that is why the Lord has many NAMES as is written in Malachi 3:16. When you walk with the Lord daily, you see Him operate in many ways, as healer, deliverer, provider, restorer, peace, love, preserver, protection, Savior, the God who fights for me, the Lord my righteousness, the Truth, the Way, the Life, Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace, King of kings and Lord of Lords etc etc. The Lord has many names, but you will only know that when you recognize how He operates by those names in your life when you honor him and live daily seeking His face.

This is what it means in  Malachi 3:16 when it speaks about meditating on His Name –

So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who meditate on His name.

There are areas where I need to constantly seek God to deal with unresolved issues because I recognize the areas in my life where I have not overcome  that requires me to increase my Faith and learn to Trust Him more. Each day is an opportunity to increase your FAITH. When you live like that, purposing to increase your cup of faith, you will see that although the problems you face don’t magically disappear right away, the more you magnify God in your mind and in your heart as you meditate on Him daily, the smaller your problems will seem to be. I think that we should always assume that no matter what we have managed to accomplish before the eyes of men, God’s ruler is of a different measurement when it comes to measuring our level of faith in HIM to remain in right standing before Him because His ruler doesn’t measure deeds …He measures our HEART.

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

So Today focus on seeking to have your name be written in the Lord’s Book of Remembrance. Consider that the world is already in such a perverse state that we remember offenses rather that acts of kindness and things that are worthy of note because such things are so easily forgotten because of our fallen state and sinful nature. Mans measure is very corrupt when it comes to the Heart, whereas God’s measure is always just. God’s book remembers those that are His and they are the ones who demonstrate the Fear of the Lord in their lives as they meditate on the Lord’s Name daily. Consider how the Lord feels to not see you in His book. His heart cries when He sees many names missing, so plan to get it recorded, Amen!

Seek to Fear the Lord so that you increase in your discernment to distinguish the difference between what is right from wrong in order to operate in the righteousness of God as you Meditate on His Name daily, Amen!

Here is a song to Minister to you today from Christ for the Nations called Blessed is the One. I pray that it minsters to your spirit today. God bless you Everybody!
