Your Enemies will Dream Dreams of Defeat

Hi Everybody!

Todays message is about your enemies dreams. You may have people that come against you in your life that maybe from your family, workplace, in your city in your churches etc, and especially when God has put a dream in front of you to fulfill, it can be discouraging when all you see are hindrances towards your advancements and progress in your life. Today I have a meditation that encouraged me and didn’t realize was in the Bible before. Sometimes God will give  prophetic dreams to those that oppress and frustrate your progress and show them how they will be defeated. In this case it happened to little Gideon. A young fella who was in the midst of a situation where the Jews had sinned against God and were now being oppressed by the Midianites who had taken over the land and taken the best places that had crops and food leaving the Children of Israel to be impoverished in Judges 6:1-6. Everything was under their jurisdiction because the Children of Israel had sinned against God and had forgotten God for all that He had done to take them out of captivity from Egypt by worshipping other idols. Gideon found favor with the Lord and an Angel visited him in Chapter 6 in the book of Judges to tell him that the Lord had found favor with Gideon and was going to use him to overthrow the Midianites. Gideon was overwhelmed with the task and the proposal and found many excuses to disqualify himself from the call but the Lord saw Him as a “Mighty man of Valor” in Judges 6:12.

Judges 6:12:

12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!”

It is important to note how God sees us when He calls us to do something. It doesn’t matter how weak we appear or how unlikely we are to be used for His Glory, God deliberately chooses to use the weak things of this world to confound the mighty and the foolish things of this world to confound the wise to make it a point that God should be given all the Glory for His Will will stand with those that walk uprightly.

1 Corinthians 1:27
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

He will give the desires of our hearts when we walk in righteousness. For Gideon, he wanted the Children of Israel to be delivered from the oppression of the Midianites and God came to fulfill his desire by using Gideon as the answer to his own prayer.

It is important to bear in mind that when God fulfills the petition and the desires of your heart, be prepared to be the answer to your own prayer.  <— didn’t see that one coming now did ya 😉

In this situation, God intervened and the Enemies of the Children of Israel (the Midianites), received prophetic dreams of their own downfall. Let’s read:

Judges 7:9-18

It happened on the same night that the Lord said to him, “Arise, go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand. 10 But if you are afraid to go down, go down to the camp with Purah your servant, 11 and you shall hear what they say; and afterward your hands shall be strengthened to go down against the camp.” Then he went down with Purah his servant to the outpost of the armed men who were in the camp. 12 Now the Midianites and Amalekites, all the people of the East, were lying in the valley as numerous as locusts; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the seashore in multitude.

13 And when Gideon had come, there was a man telling a dream to his companion. He said, “I have had a dream: To my surprise, a loaf of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian; it came to a tent and struck it so that it fell and overturned, and the tent collapsed.”

14 Then his companion answered and said, “This is nothing else but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel! Into his hand God has delivered Midian and the whole camp.”

15 And so it was, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. He returned to the camp of Israel, and said, “Arise, for the Lord has delivered the camp of Midian into your hand.”16 Then he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet into every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and torches inside the pitchers. 17 And he said to them, “Look at me and do likewise; watch, and when I come to the edge of the camp you shall do as I do: 18 When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then you also blow the trumpets on every side of the whole camp, and say,The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!’”

I don’t know about you but that’s worth a praise in my mouth! Woooohooo!!!!! GLORY! Ain’t it awesome that the your adversaries can have dreams of their own demise? One Midianite had the dream and the other man who was his companion, was able to prophetically interpret the dream even though they weren’t Jews and were ones that didn’t worship the same God Jehovah. Unbelievers can dream dreams too it seems and that just goes to show you that with God all things are possible for those that love the LORD (Matthew 19:26). You must always give the Lord praise when He promises you Victory. Gideon was so encouraged that he went into battle with style, with trumpets giving the Lord Praise. We should learn to blow our trumpets of praise for praise is our weapon of warfare!

As intercessors, you can declare and decree that your adversaries will dream prophetic dreams of defeat and that your God is more than able to overthrow their schemes against you in the Mighty name of Jesus! Rejoice! For if God can encourage Gideon in this manner, what more say you? I used to assume that I needed to see a dream or vision of my adversaries downfall to feel encouraged that I can progress in this life, but after reading this passage, I know that God can prophetically intervene and cause them to dream up their own defeat for those that come against God’s plan in your life. I don’t have to dream about it anymore when my enemies can dream about it themselves, and likewise, for those that do evil against you, God can intervene in that situation when you seek His face above all else with a purity of heart and in humility.

Never take anything into your own hands because vengeance is the Lords <— I want to be clear on that.

Romans 12:19
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

When people come against your calling in your life or the progress in your life, understand that they aren’t up against you the person, they are up against the God you serve. So the first thing you must question is, What God are you serving? This is the first and most important question you have to ask yourself because this will determine whether you remain subdued by people who plot to oppress you, frustrate your efforts, scheme and abuse you or not. If God is not who you are serving, then I suggest that you repent right now and give your life back to God and then seek the Lord’s face to set you free from whatever is holding you back from fulfilling your dreams and purpose in this life. You must always move according to God’s will in order for Him to see you as a “mighty man or woman of valor”. This is how you gain the favor of the Lord to move His hand against the enemies of your soul. However, you must live a life daily in humility, honor, integrity and obedience for that favor to rest upon all that you do.

The Favor of God is predicated on you living a life of obedience to him. So be encouraged today and know that God can cause the enemies of your soul to dream dreams of their defeat in their plans to prevent you from reaching your full potential. God is an Awesome God and He is well able to do what He promises. He did it for Gideon and He can do it for you too. God Bless you everybody!

I have here a video to encourage you today called the Battle Cry and a song by Chris Tomlin called Our God. May these videos bless you today and God Bless you everybody! Registered & Protected

  1. This is a brilliant and inspiring post, Sherline! It’s so easy to get weighed down when people come against you and I have so many times given up on my dreams. I’m actively running from a lot of them because I don’t have the energy to fight but this is a timely reminded. I’ve missed blogging.
    Great to hear your wisdom,
    Fiona x

    • Hi Fiona,
Never give up on your dreams, even if you feel weary and wonder when will you ever accomplish them, just trust God with all you have and He’ll provide you with all you need. I understand how you feel, because I’ve done the same thing…but in the end you aren’t running from your dream, you will find that you are really running from yourself. Your dreams are tied to your identity and sometimes people don’t feel complete becuase they haven’t fulfilled the desires of their heart. So i encourage you to stand firm no matter what’s going on. Sometimes even in sickness we get discouraged but God is also able to use you when you are weak and He will make you strong. Believe that today, amen.

God Bless you hun and thanks for visiting. I’ve missed your comments 😀

      • Wow! Sherline your words are uplifting and so much from God. I’m living away from home which is the UK for us and we’re in a part of Europe that’s barren spiritually. The last 5 years have been the longest desert of my life. God called me into ministry about 10 years and the amount of stuff that has come against it is phenomenal! I started a theology course and am currently thinking of quitting. It’s hard to fight through the rubbish and noone along the way has kept me going but I think God prepares us in ways we can’t understand. It’s a long journey and with ladies like you along the way life is easier. Bless ya sister!

  2. Praise the Lord for this good word! “It is important to bear in mind that when God fulfills the petition and the desires of your heart, be prepared to be the answer to your own prayer.” I cannot stress this enough. Getting a prophetic word from the man of God is not enough; one has to move, like actually MOVE. It’s like saying “God, bless me with a car.” He will, and might even bless you with a job to put gas in it but you’re gonna have to learn how to drive it. That’s our part to do because faith without works is dead. God bless, Sher Sher Sherline! 🙂

    • Exactly Margaret.
Sometimes people expect God to do all the work, but what they don’t realize is that when you ask for his help He’s giving you a helping hand but we also have to do our part. Amen for pointing that out girl.

God bless you Mar Mar Margaret. 😉

  3. A very blessed word today. I have some new dreams to fufill for the Lord. Being obedient to His commands is a challenge but my heart is willing and I know God always has ones back when He ask someone to do a task for Him. I look forward to new task. Please keep me in prayer for keeping up with His timing and discernment.

    • Don’t worry sister Tanya. I’ll keep you in prayer. Your heart loves the Holy Spirit so He will definitely reveal every window of opportunity for you to step out boldy in faith for whatever it is that is part of your destiny.

      Sherline 😀

  4. Dear Sherline this is a word in season and God bless you for it. God used this blog as a confirmation to know that my prayers are not amiss. I woke up from a terrible dream this morning and immediayely started binding and rebuking it. As i was praying I got mad in my Spirit and thought why is it that I am being terrorised by the enemy in my dreams. So I asked God to turn the tables on them and give my enemies terrifying dreams of Jesus himself pouring out judgement on them and destroying them however I used psalm 109. Less than an hour later i stumbled on your blog. So relevant to all that is happening to me now and a confirmation to prayer. God bless you and may His wisdom and protection be continually upon you as you strengthen and encourage his people.

    • Hi Irene,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m glad that it helped you in some way. May God continue to work in your life and strengthen you for every battle that you face. Remember the battle is not yours, it is the Lords and He will fight for you. All you have to do is put your 100% trust in Him. May God be with you always.

      God Bless,
      Sis. Sherline.
