I Will Get There – Beyond the Finish Line

Day 21 of the 21 Day Daniel Fast – Finally, it’s the End of the Fast and  let me tell you that it has been a very humbling experience for me. I feel that although I started off sick with a chest-cold making it a challenge right at the start and then going through some crazy things during the Fast, i.e. being bit by a spider on the eye (I guess when I was sleeping) making it swell like crazy and then having it heal the very next day after praying for healing, nearly escaping death in a car accident several times in the past 2 weeks but barely missing a collision, experiencing confusion during my meditations which caused for a lack of sleep and a start of insomnia issues, internet connection issues preventing me from posting and at one point losing all my information for a post coupled with having severe nightmares and certain dreams that revealed who I should and shouldn’t trust this season, I mean the list goes on and on.

To finally reach the finish line has been one hurdle after another that also made me feel discouraged at many points which actually surprised me. It has not been a peaceful Fast for me at all exactly, and rightfully so, because when you have or are about to receive big visions for what God has in store for you, He trains your spirit to war and fight for it in the Spirit and tells you what to pray for. I have a new appreciation for spiritual warfare and can tell you that it wasn’t fun at all, but it has been spiritually rewarding for me in that God has shown me what it means to intercede and to also be obedient when He tells you to do something, DO IT. You can avoid calamities when you learn to obey His voice over your own understanding. He sees beyond our human capabilities and limitations so it’s better to put your Trust in Him for He goes Ahead of us and warns us of things yet to come as we try to catch up to where God is going.

Today’s meditation is about Waiting for the Authentic rather than settling for the Counterfeit. If you think about the word “counterfeit” split it into two words and you get “Counter” and “Fit” without the “e”. If we opt for counterfeits in our life, we are settling for less than the best which is authentic. If something doesn’t fit your destiny it counters your fit — therefore, it was never designed to fit you is what I’m getting at here and yet, many a time, people opt for things that don’t fit them when God has something authentic that He desires to give you but expects you to cultivate a spirit of patience, a spirit of gratitude and a spirit that is willing to do whatever it takes to pursue that which is authentic, that which is Genuine, and that which is able to FIT you in your destiny. My question today is, are you going for the authentic or are you opting for the COUNTER-FIT?

What will take you to your promise is believing in the Authentic and not settling for less than the Best.

In the Book of Exodus, we learn about Moses who had to take on a great calling by God’s command to go before Pharaoh and pronounce His judgement set against the people of Egypt for keeping the Children of Israel in Captivity. Moses had to boldly declare to Pharaoh who had enslaved the Children of Israel that the Lord had declared for him to “Let My People GO!” (Exodus 7:16). Pharaoh scoffed at Moses  because he had a hardened heart that obviously required drastic measures because he was full of PRIDE (Proverbs 16:18). Moses remained obedient to God’s instruction because the Vision was so great that it required Great FAITH and OBEDIENCE to fulfill the Promise that God was going to set the CAPTIVES FREE!

God used 10 Plagues to get His point across to Pharaoh that He means business when it comes to His Children and wasn’t backing down until His Word accomplished that which He sent it through Moses, which were:

1) The Plague of Blood in the Water (Exodus 7:14-24)

2) The Plague of Frogs (Exodus 7:25Exodus 8:1-15)

3)The Plague of Gnats/Lice (Exodus 8:16-19)

4)The Plague of Flies (Exodus 8:20-32)

5)The Plague of Disease on Livestock (Exodus 9:1-7)

6)The Plague of Unhealable Boils (Exodus 9:8-12)

7)The Plague of Hail and Thunder (Exodus 9:13-35)

8)The Plague of Locusts (Exodus 10:1-18)

9)The Plague of Darkness (Exodus 10:21-29)

10)The Plague of The Death of the Firstborn of  every Egyptian and their Animals (Exodus 11:1-10).

Moses

These plagues were specific and symbolic in that God plagued the Egyptians with the very same things that they worshiped rendering their “gods” impotent and proving that Our God was and is OMNIPOTENT. The gods of the Egyptians were Counterfeit gods that could not prevent the decree from the AUTHENTIC GOD that would lead Moses to SET THE CAPTIVES FREE from OPPRESSION, POVERTY, SLAVERY, TORMENT, and systemic and seemingly unending SUFFERING. Our God, Jehovah, Yahweh was and is the Authentic God and the ONE TRUE GOD that was able to deliver what HE had PROMISED.

To end this Fast, I want us to remember that we serve a GOD that is AUTHENTIC, and He is concerned for our well-beings because He is a God that will FIGHT for HIS CHILDREN as He demonstrated for the CHILDREN of ISRAEL. The Egyptian gods did nothing to stop the calamities that their Egyptian worshipers suffered through RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT because GOD’s Word does NOT return VOID. It completes that which HE sends it and it prospers in what it has been sent out to do.

My Last Questions for this Meditation are:

Who are we placing our faith in at the moment?

Are we opting for less than what’s best?

Are we reaching out for counterfeit blessings that cannot sustain us because we are impatient for waiting for the authentic?

Or, are we pursuing the Genuine and the authentic that is able to deliver us from Evil with an abundance of blessings forevermore? Remember that when the Children of Israel were delivered from captivity, they came out of Egypt RICH with SILVER and GOLD (Exodus 11:1-3). God didn’t just deliver them but He also Provided for them for their FUTURE. He is a God of Abundance and of the OVERFLOW.

I thank all those that have been with me during this Fast. Although mine technically ends tomorrow, I wanted to post this up for today to bless those that have completed it already. I have a song to finish this meditation off that fits with this message. It was from the soundtrack from the Disney movie Prince of Egypt and it’s a song by BOYS II MEN called  I WILL GET THERE. I love this song for it has encouraged me for not giving up on this Fast seeking God’s face and keepin’ my wits together. I pray that it blesses you too. It is Finished and we will all reach to the OTHER SIDE! No LIMITS!

    • I’m ok Will of Heart, thanks for asking ;). It’s been a rocky three weeks and I’m soooooooo glad that it’s going to be over as of tomorrow for me hahaha. Thank you for reading and enjoying the post. The authentic supersedes the superficial, artificial, the fake and the counterfeit. God is True so we should pursue what is true, what is real and what is authentic. 😀

    • Amen Girl! Amen! I feel rejuvenated after all that hell, but now I want to move forward from strength to strength. Understanding the assignment is one thing, but going through the assignment is another. I won’t back down and I won’t give up. I want to see the Manifestation of Gods goodness all around me and such a vision requires me to remain steadfast and unmoved. Thank you for your encouragement. Indeed God orders our steps when we choose to follow Him against all odds. Stay blessed Hun. 😀

  3. I love the video by Boyz II Men. Did you know that the Prince of Egypt had 3 sound tracks. There was a Gospel album, a Country music album and a contemporary album. I had all three at one time but have no idea what happened to them.

Congratulations on finishing your fast and thank you for being so open with us during this time.

    • Thanks Ruby! I wasn’t aware that they had 3 soundtracks. I was only aware of one of them being the Gospel Album. Out of all the Disney cartoons, that one was well done. I like that fact that they captured the sirit of the story and didn’t make it out to be some commercialized thing that deviated from the importance of the Exodus story.

Thank you for reading my journey through the Fast. It was one that I think I will never forget. God bless you on yours as well. The journey continues on! 😀
